Description Respondent Comment on Survey HSLC Response
Agenda Topics Anything that is hidden in “For Librarians” This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics My library is a lender only. I would be most interested in a session that covers only the lending process. Please consider holding the conference in the capital region. This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda. HSLC will carefully monitor the budget for this first-ever conference in order to consider expanding it to three locations next year.
Agenda Topics preparing & handling emergencies (dealing with fights, active threats, medical crises, disruptive patrons, etc. The focus of this users’ conference will be on POWER Library programs and services. We will offer time on the agenda for you to network and interact with fellow librarians about other topics of your choosing.
Agenda Topics Any topic relating to researching and interlibrary loan. Thank you! This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics Advocacy in getting administrators to understand the value of the AccessPA system for staff and students, as well as the value in having a LMS to instruct and be the contact point for AccessPA/ ILL – please consider presenting at Pete & C in the future. HSLC participates as an exhibitor at a number of conferences for school administration professionals. HSLC is also scheduled to present a POWER Library session at PETE & C on February 22, 2016.
Agenda Topics Please contact PSEA I have been trying to get them to do sessions on Power Library for classroom teachers. We need to get more teachers and students using these awesome resources. HSLC maintains close connection with the PA School Library Association and exhibits at its annual conference. We will reach out to PSEA as well.
Agenda Topics I would be interested in hearing about the job search feature now on POWER Library This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics It won’t let me submit this without making a choice, but nothing applies because I will ot be attending. Our district has put a freeze on conference attendance because of the state budget problems and because substitutes are not available to fill absences. HSLC will continue to offer live and recorded webinars in addition to the regular fall training.
Agenda Topics General use of Power Library, how to use the variety of resources, what information on the resources so we can carry it back to our libraries and train local staff. Training materials that can be shared. This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda. All handouts will be posted for download in the POWER Library for Librarians.
Agenda Topics Roundtable discussions with Public Libraries – our issues sometimes get lost in the large number of PA school libraries. This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics How to digitize a collection would be of interest This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics A session just for Lenders would be very helpful If this is held in the Capital Region I would be more likely to attend. This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda. HSLC will carefully monitor the budget for this first-ever conference in order to consider expanding it to three locations next year.
Agenda Topics How to pull information from SHAREIt If the purpose is to download MARC records, this topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics POWER Library resources for high school students Please see the preliminary agenda for the e-resources to be featured at the conference.
Agenda Topics How to upload my school library collection to ShareIt. This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics can’t think of anything now Please see the preliminary agenda for the current list of topics to be covered.
Agenda Topics Template for training staff and/or the public on powerlibrary resources. Train-the-trainer sessions have not been scheduled but are a good idea! In the meantime HSLC offers trainers on-site or via webinar for district in-service days. (Weather and schedule permitting!) Contact us at support@hslc.org.
Agenda Topics Resources for lower grades, particularly elementary. I love Power Library conference sessions; they are always so beneficial and well organized. Please see the preliminary agenda for the e-resources to be featured at the conference.
Agenda Topics Review of All Power Library databases! We will be unable to cover all of them; please see the preliminary agenda for the e-resources to be featured at the conference.
Agenda Topics We’ve been shown the same basics in the past, so there’s nothing that would benefit me at this time. Feel free to link to the handouts for the conference.
Agenda Topics data retrieval – how many users, what users are using, etc… More information would be helpful. Feel free to contact us at support@hslc.org.
Agenda Topics EBSCO Admin This topic has not been scheduled but sounds like a good webinar topic for the future.
Agenda Topics Web Junction Web Junction is not managed by HSLC as part of the POWER Library services. Your feedback will be shared with the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
Agenda Topics Shipping options and instructions for ILL material. IDS, regular mail, etc. This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics A session that doesn’t involve SHAREit Borrowing, but does involve Lending, would draw staff from all of our 8 Cumberland County Libraries (if the location is within a reasonable distance.) None of our locations are borrowers through SHAREit (our District handles it). We will consider a segment on lending only as part of the Advanced SHAREit session.
Agenda Topics Maintenance of SHAREIt records This topic will be included. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Agenda Topics I would be likely to attend if the conference is held in Philadelphia in a central or easily accessible location like at Drexel or Penn for example. The Eastern location will be Valley Forge, PA.
Agenda Topics -Understanding HSLC’s role, who does what between HSLC, State Library etc. -Local libraries sharing how they have used and promoted Power Library We will offer time on the agenda for you to network and interact with fellow librarians about other topics of your choosing. This might be a good time to discuss HSLC and its role.
Agenda Topics Twitter More information would be helpful. Feel free to contact us at support@hslc.org.
Agenda Topics Social media More information would be helpful. Feel free to contact us at support@hslc.org.
Scheduled Date/Location Spring is a horrible time to have workshops especially for secondary level teachers. Please consider live webinars to deliver content and then offer an archived link. No live sessions are needed in the future. This conference will supplement, not replace the fall training. HSLC will continue to offer live and recorded webinars in addition to the regular fall training.
Scheduled Date/Location Not during PLA in early April please HSLC made every effort to schedule around other conferences but were unable to avoid conflicting with the national Public Library Association conference this year.
Scheduled Date/Location None. We use the resources enough to make the one day training helpful, but not enough to justify attending a 2-day conference. The agenda has been structured to facilitate attendance at one or both days. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Scheduled Date/Location I would be interested in having something in the center of the state instead of. East and west HSLC will carefully monitor the budget for this first-ever conference in order to consider expanding it to three locations next year.
Scheduled Date/Location 1 day is plenty The agenda has been structured to facilitate attendance at one or both days. Please see the preliminary agenda.
Scheduled Date/Location Please consider a central PA location (Altoona, Johnstown, State College) HSLC will carefully monitor the budget for this first-ever conference in order to consider expanding it to three locations next year.
Cost Sorry, because of state budget impasse, our district will not approve travel for workshops. Our budget is frozen. We understand the budget impasse will limit attendance. We will work to make live and recorded webinars available. The conference will be free to Access PA/POWER Library participants, and breakfast/lunch will be provided.
Other None. Staff either have experience with POWER Library or get individualized training on SHAREit. The conference will cover other POWER Library topics as well. Please see the preliminary agenda to learn if any other topics will be helpful to you.
Other Question – Would this be mandatory? My district has become very limiting on the approval of training. Attendance is optional.
Other Not sure if i would be allowed to partake of lunch due to PA ban on gifts. Just an FYI. Your participant fee payment covers the cost therefore this does not fall under the gift ban policy.

This event is made possible in part by Access PA /POWER Library participant fees and a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf, Governor.
